I purchased this book for a couple of my students who have significant gaps in their math skills. While I found the book helpful in some ways - detailed explanations and small lessons, it also lack in serious practice. I have to continually search for extra practice for my students that would match the teaching method used in this book and that is proving the be more time consuming than I would have wished. Also, I would appreciate if the lessons would be grouped by topics rather than skipping around - it confuses the students, giving them too many skills to be practiced at the same time. I think mastering a skill at a time and then moving to the next skill would be more beneficial.
I didn't order this.
Hi Lani! Sorry, you received a duplicate shipping email for your order. Please disregard.
I like the structure if this curriculum and I love that it focuses so heavily on when the learner is ready to learn, that has been a blessing and a really good fit for my kids. The downfall is the physical books and the download pdf material do not always match and the quality of the new printed books. I love the thick paper and full color border, and glossy covers of the old style books and I'm really dissatisfied with the new style. The paper is thinner and the covers are just regular paper. In looking at book 5 for the second time the back cover ripped off the binding. I don't that book will surviving 4 rounds if teaching.
I teach children with multiple holes in their previous math learning and also have a variety of learning disabilities like ADHD, dyslexia and math disability. I have tried many programs, but find this program uses techniques that work best for my learners.
The PDFs are all separate documents and very time consuming to download each document at a time. I wish I had purchased the booklets because I don't have hours of time to sit in front of a computer to download each item. Its very frustrating because we haven't used any of it so far.
